Winding River Plantation’s Emergency Management Committee is considering developing a standard for closing amenities during storms and inclement weather. For example, do we align it with the County directives for schools? How does your community handle the closing of amenities? Do they incorporate certain criteria or follow directives of a specific entity? Thank you.

Our community manager and POA Board president evaluate the impacts of inclement weather events and decide on closure of amenities and/or our POA office. Our golf courses and restaurants are owned by a third party, and they make their own decisions regarding closure of their facilities. The Town of St. James also makes a decision regarding closure of their office and facilities. The National Weather Service, Brunswick County Notifications and local media outlets also provide guidance.

Our Board of Directors and Management company discuss when to close facilities due to weather. We only have a pool and small clubhouse so there is not a lot of need in most cases.

Devaun Park has two amenities that might be affected by inclement weather. We follow the guidance of our pool maintenance vendor. Or Board makes decisions about our clubhouse.
