Does your development have a social committee? If so, are events/dinners paid by participants or does your development have a line item budget for the social events. Thanks

Our community activity committee is funded by the board for four main events each year - Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day and Holiday tree lighting. Residents are charged a nominal fee for Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day to ensure attendance and provide accurate count for the caterers.

St. James has an Activities Committee. There are about 20 resident volunteers on the committee. The POA does not fund the committee or its events. The committee sells tickets to each event to cover costs (entertainment, food, venue, decorations, sometimes bus travel.) The committee uses an online ticketing software which has replaced in-person ticket sales. The committee organizes about 20 events per year. This committee was the first committee formed by the POA 30 years ago. Financially, the committee is required to show no profit or loss at yearend. They have their own treasurer along with a liaison from the Finance Committee to help manage inflows and outflows of funds.

WR currently has a social committee. The committee’s social events are a combination of paid participants and association sponsored. The committee does have a budget, and funds are allocated for association sponsored events. Annual events such as the ice cream social and easter egg hunt are association sponsored and events such as the NYE social and summer BBQ are paid by participants.
