SOLAR PANELS/COLLECTORS: Requires ARC approval. Rooftop solar panels/collectors are allowed in accordance with N.C. Gen. Stat. 22B-20. Panels shall be installed so as to minimize their visual impact from the street.

Solar panels are not permitted to be installed at ground level. All applications must include:
• A site plan and elevations of the house showing the appearance of the panels/collector.
• Details must show how the collector edges will meet the roof. Any superstructure necessary to elevate the collector above the existing roof plane must be enclosed by approved materials and colors.

SUN TUBES: ARC approval is not required if all the following provisions are met. Exceptions must be approved by the ARC. 23 Sun tubes are acceptable as long as the tube does not protrude more than two (2) feet above the highest point of penetration.

From Winding River's Rules and Regulations:  Solar collectors are encouraged, and Federal Tax Credits for Consumer Energy Efficiency may apply. Requests will be considered on an individual basis and must clearly indicate how the collectors will be installed to minimize the visual impact.
